When deciding on the seeds you want to stock your pantry with, there are two main characteristics you should look out for: that the seeds aren’t soft and soggy or that there is no added moisture inside their packaging, and that they are mostly the same light-brown colour.

Sunflower seeds can be prepared and enjoyed in two main ways – either by eating them raw or by boiling and then roasting them in the oven for 25 minutes at 150ºC. Once you remove them from the oven, add a few cracks of salt and pepper and tuck into these crispy, calcium-rich treats.

When storing your sunflower seeds, be sure to keep them covered in a container and stored in a cool, dry cupboard. Did you know that you can freeze-store sunflower seeds? Simply place them into an airtight bag and store them in your freezer.
