How To Choose
When choosing which jackfruit to buy, there are two things you should look out for. Firstly, make sure the fruit is yellow and not green. If it is green it means that it has not yet ripened. Secondly, give the fruit a light squeeze with your fingers. If the fruit gives in a bit and feels soft, it is ripe.
How To Prepare
Jackfruits can be eaten and enjoyed in a score of ways, but it isn’t only the fruit’s soft centre that is edible. This scrumptious and bright fruit’s seeds can also be boiled in water for 30 minutes, left to dry and then peeled until their inner brown layer is visible. The actual fruit itself has a marvellous mango-like taste with subtle pear notes. If you really make the most out of this delicious fruit, add it to a masala curry!
How To Store
Jackfruits should be stored in a fridge and can be kept there for up to 7 days. If you buy a batch of these soft delights in bulk, they can be frozen and kept in your freezer for up to 2 months.
